Pew Internet, a group that monitors the “ attitudes and trends shaping America and the world,” reported that 48% of Americans are using some type of social media platform. Below are some stats on three social media programs:
- As of this week, LinkedIn, an online resource for professionals to link to each other, reached 100 million members. According to Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn, one million new members are signing up every week.
- Good Morning America’s Tuesday segment about Twitter reported that this social media phenomenon touts 200 million users. Currently 400,000 usesr sign up daily for a Twitter account.
- Facebook has over 500 million active users. In fact, Pew Internet reported that Facebook surpassed Google as the “most popular site on the internet.”
